A bright smile is a confident smile.  Luckily, for many people, a brighter smile is just an office visit away!  Advancements in dental care provide an array of options to deliver dazzling results. Dr. Sprout and the Genesee team will be happy to discuss which tooth whitening procedure is best for you.

.: Whitening – Teeth become discolored over time due to any number of reasons; among them are staining agents such as tea, coffee, tobacco, medications, metallic fillings, age or genetics.  The teeth whitening procedure is the most commonly prescribed treatment to correct discoloration by removing the staining and improving the brightness of the teeth.

First, we offer the ZOOM! In-Office Whitening System which will dramatically whiten your teeth in just two visits. The procedure is simple; the whitening is achieved by using a special gel. We will also construct a custom tray for you to take home so that you will be able to touch up your smile whenever it is needed. This option works well for the busy individual or someone who needs immediate results.

Our second option is to make custom trays for at-home use. Initially, we recommend that you whiten your teeth for 2 weeks to achieve the desired results. Rev is worn for 15 minutes once a day. You can touch up your smile every few months to maintain your desired whiteness very easily with this system.

Our third option is treswhite by Opalescence. This option has non-custom trays filled with whitening gel that you use for 7-10 days. It is only sold in dental offices due to the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel.

Our final option is Professional Strength Crest Whitestrips. Each kit has a 21-day supply and has a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide for improved whitening. Results vary from patient to patient and you may or may not achieve the desired whiteness with this method.

Bleaching agents don't work on crowns, bridges or tooth colored composites. Some people who use over the counter whitening products discover that their teeth do not bleach evenly. These products can be effective, but to know whether on is right for you always check with your dentist.

So as you can see, there are many options of achieving a whiter, brighter smile. If  you would like to learn more about whitening your teeth give our office a call today.
