Learning to set goals and accomplishing them is something we all strive to do. Whether it’s New Year’s resolutions like eating healthier, losing weight, exercising more, paying off bills or achieving  bucket list goals, we all want to improve some aspect of our life.

Well, now that it’s July, how are you doing with meeting the goals you set for 2013?

Here are some guidelines that may help you make a midyear adjustment to your New Year’s resolutions.

  1. Were you specific about what you wanted to accomplish? Instead of saying, “I want to lose weight”, redefine the goal and say, “I plan on losing 15 pounds this year.” This gives you the opportunity to monitor and change you habits so that you can reach your goal.
  2. Ask yourself, “Why would I like to accomplish this goal?” Are you setting the goal for the right reason? Do you think that you will be happier? What are the possible downsides of making these changes? Be informed about your choice before making a commitment to it.
  3. How will I achieve my goal? Have a well thought out plan and monitor it on a weekly basis. Are you moving closer to the goal or do you need to make a change? Give yourself a break every so often and come back to it refreshed and ready to move forward again.

A famous quote states, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending”. We challenge you to take one of the resolutions or goals you set this year, redefine it, and set a realistic deadline and GET IT DONE!

Then celebrate… you did it. We ask you to share your success story with our practice. We would love to hear from you at our Golden, CO dental office.
